New Homes and Retirement Living Planned for Middlewich
Henderson Homes and McCarthy and Stone have submitted a joint application to develop land off Wheelock Street, Middlewich, with Retirement Living accommodation, residential housing, and retail units.
The plans, submitted to Cheshire East Council, seek to develop disused land in the heart of Middlewich into much-needed housing for older people and families in the community, as well as a number of retail units. If approved by the Council’s Southern Planning Committee, the development will see the site transformed into 50 one and two-bedroom retirement apartments, 29 new homes with a range of styles and sizes and three retail units.
Henderson Homes and McCarthy and Stone have arranged an information day to display the submitted plans, and to answer any questions local residents or representatives may have.
The information day will be held
At: Number 28, 28 Hightown, Middlewich, CW10 9AN
On: Wednesday 24th January 2018
Between: 3pm and 7pm
Speaking about the application, Ian Wilkins, North Divisional Managing Director at McCarthy and Stone, said:
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Henderson Homes to regenerate this site in Middlewich town centre. We believe the mixture of retirement accommodation and family sized homes will improve property choices in Middlewich.
“I would encourage local residents to attend our information day on 24th January to find out more about the plans and talk with the project team”.
Max Henderson, Managing Director of Henderson Homes, commented:
“This is a large and prominent site in the centre of Middlewich, which is crying out to be developed. The site is an eyesore, and many local representatives and residents have raised concerns that it’s been neglected for some time. Our carefully designed scheme will provide much-needed high quality housing for all as well as improve the street scene.”
Members of the public can view and comment on the plans at www.cheshireeast.gov.uk using the application number: 17/6233C.
